| RIVERS and RIVER VALLEYS | ||
|
| Biebrza Valley | Unique and huge complex of marshes holding important populations of breeding and migrating birds. Wide low peat bogs, alderwoods, birch forests are home for Aquatic Warbler, Greater Spotted Eagle, Eagle Owl, White-winged Black Tern and Moose. |

| Narew Valley | Narew is one of the longest rivers in Poland and also best preserved. Starting form the border of Belarus (Siemianowka Reservoir) it passes near Bialystok (Narew National Park) and joins with smaller Biebrza River near Wizna. Numerous waterbirds breed in wide reedbeds, channels and meadows. |
| FORESTS | ||

| Bialowieza Forest | The only european natural lowland temperate forest preserved till present time. Oldest oaks, lime trees, spruces attract breeding Woodpeckers (all European species), Flycatchers, Owls (Pygmy and Tengmalm's). Currently threated by logging. Wild population of European Bison exceeds 200 animals. |

| Knyszynska Forest | Located east and north of Bialystok is perhaps less known and appreciated but still very variable in forest communities and breeding birds. Important populations of Lesser Spotted Eagle, Black Stork, Tengmalm's Owl stay here in breeding season. |

Augustowska Forest | Large forest with dominant pines and spruces, many lakes and channels and diversified landscape. Breeding Goldeneyes, Goosanders, Kites, White-tailed Eagles, Tengmalm's Owls. Serwy Lake and "Kurianskie Bagno" swampy reserve worth visiting |
| FISH PONDS AND RESERVOIRS | ||

| Dojlidy Fish Ponds | Old fish ponds located just on the edge of Bialystok town with nice variety of Grebes, Terns and reed singers. |

| Zygmunt August Lake | Artificial lake or fish-pond located north-west from Bialystok town (ca 40 km). Breeding site of Greylag Geese, Swans, migration stopover for hundreds of Ducks. Local White-tailed Eagles (up to 20 birds) present almost all the season. Rarities recorded include: White-headed Duck, Northern Diver, Parasitic Skua. |

| Siemianowka Reservoir | Largest regional artificial reservoir with numerous eastern breeders (White-winged Black Tern, Whiskered Tern, Citrine Wagtail), migrants (Great White Egret, Pallid Harrier...) located just on the border with Belarus. Marvellous place to visit at any time of year! |

| fields near Krynki | Vast areas of fields and semi-steppes with small water pools, streams and numerous birds of open areas: Montagu's Harriers, White Storks, Corn Buntings. Belarus border nearby adds some spice :) |
